Atrix Wolfe's New Coat

Alright. New stuff.
With TAP's recording currently in a bit of limbo I'm sort of less motivated right now to work on the art for the comic. Its terrible I know, but I'm just not in a cyborg mood at the moment. Maybe once I get to some action, I've just been lazy with that of late. I need to get another burst of energy.

Anyway, as a result I started a new project. This is the first drawing in a larger project. The full picture will be a long-ways image depicting images from The Book of Atrix Wolfe by Patricia A. McKillip. This is the first draft of my depiction of Atrix "The White Wolf" Wolfe. In the full landscape he'll likely have some more fire and probably some imagery hidden within the flame. At the moment its pretty rough but I think it still looks very good.

Cyborgestapo

So Tiger Assault Pageant is going very well. Josh and I are making some headway with the music. Tomorrow we're getting our friend Ryan Peters to come on down to Toronto to discuss some stuff, maybe get some of his input into what we already have. Ryan's a totally sweet dude, he'll be doing the bass on some tracks, probably helping us out with some of the vocals (me and Josh are not great singers, but we're doing it anyway), and probably helping us write some shit. I'm seriously not just saying this because he's one of the only people who reads my blog, he's a cool dude. We're going to be recording at his sweet ass music room (where his family is kind enough to let me do not one but several murals including the likes of Chick Corea and Bob Dylan).

Anyway, I've been making extremely slow headway on the comic. Its not even that the drawings are taking me a long time. I'm just a lazy ass. So without further ado, here are the first two frames of out first song (which will be a sort of Beastie Boys/Rage Against the Machine-ish fuck rap) Cyborgestapo. At this point in the story the Cyborgs bust into a compound, where tigers like to chill and drink fo'ties, so they can abduct them and experiment on them. Sometimes cyborgs do stupid shit. Anyway, this is really a song where Patrock (one of the main characters) gets to shine. I'm pretty pumped for this song, I wrote most of the lyrics after going through a hilarious but terrible first draft with Josh. I think we're pretty happy with them now. A lot of this song relies on Ryan's input though, the bass being really important and he being a stellar bassist.

The frames are done in a more comic-y style. We're thinking of doing a slightly different art style for each song, since each song will have a completely different music style.

Worst Case Scenario Painter

Well fuck.
I'm really not happy with how this turned out. I'll post it anyway.
Anyway, basically what happened is that I fucked up on the colour elements, especially form and shadow so instead of actually going back and fixing shit I just relied on outline. Too heavily on outline at that. Not a good sketch. It was a concept sketch for one of the Tiger Assault characters.

Genenenenenetic Re-Order

Sorry there hasn't been a post in a long time. Firstly, I've been extremely bust, what with summertimes coupled with my stylus fucking off for a while (it turned out to be just hiding on my desk for like a month).

Anyway, just so you guys (meaning the 6 of you who actually look at this thing regularly) don't lose your faith I'll give you guys a little taste of some of my 10 minute drawings that I did a little while ago. They're for a weird little steampunk genetics-type project that a buddy of mine on the Escapist forums was putting together. Anyway, these were my contributions to his now discontinued project. They are, in order: Platypower (the platypus/cannon), Davey Jones' Shocker (the least practical octopus ever), and Clanguin and Quax (a penguin sewn to a duck)... yeah they're pretty strange but hey, I had fun with them

Each of these I took about 10-12 minutes on. Stay tuned though, I have some dragon stuff coming up in the near future plus maybe some Tiger Assault Pageant updates.

Storm Wyvern (Complete)

So I finished dealing with contrast issues I had before. It reads a little better now I think. I also tweaked the appearance of the background mountains a little as well so they look more like mountains and less like low-flying clouds. I'm pretty happy with the turnout. I don't actually know how long this piece took to tell you the truth because I worked on it spaced over such a large period of time with small pockets of working on it.

The Completed Blur

So I'm almost done with this one. The only real issue I'm dealing with right now is contrast issues. Since I decided on using such a limited colour palette I'm dealing with the fact that I lot of it bleeds into itself. I'll be fucking around with brightness/contrast and colour levels over the next few days. I'll post the final product when I come up with a combo I like. Suggestions welcome.

Pl'n!

Okay, so... it wasn't 1 or 2 days to complete the wings. It actually only took like an hour, (half an hour if photoshop didn't crash right after I'd finished and was in the process of saving). Anyway, I'm alright with how things have been turning out.

The reason I haven't posted in a while is that I just got back to Toronto after finishing first year. I've mostly been lazing around for the past week. I start working soon, but its been nice to just sit and do jack shit but work on lyrics for TAP and play Deus Ex. I guess its back to the drawing board now...literally.
